Reading Genesis will help you understand the Bible and answers to life's big questions
Where did we come from? Who is God? What is man? Why is the world full of pain and suffering? Is God involved and in control of human history? These questions and more are answered in Genesis. A beautifully written book, Genesis is a must-read for anyone who wants to understand the Bible and God's plan for the world.
The video above is an excellent summary of the first part of Genesis (chapters 1-11) from the Bible Project. It will help you read Genesis with understanding.
Here is the second part about chapters 12-50.
I suggest reading a print copy of the Bible. But you can also read a Bible online through a web application such as BibleGateway. The Bible was originally written in the Hebrew and Greek languages. If you do not know those languages you can pick up a good English translation such as the King James and the New King James Version (KJV and NKJV), the English Standard Version (ESV), the New American Standard Version (NASV) 1995, or the Legacy Standard Bible.
Also, I recommend getting a good study Bible. A study Bible contains notes in the margin that explain biblical texts. One of the best is the John MacArthur Study Bible. Another is the Grace and Truth Study Bible. I have both.
I also recommend that you talk with your pastor about what you are reading. He can help you understand it and recommend resources. If you are not sure where to attend church, I recommend using the 9Marks and the Master's Seminary church search apps, here and here.
It is exceedingly important to get connected with a local Bible-believing church. A church will help you understand the Bible, grow in your knowledge of who God is, and connect with people who can help you do this.
