This course helps students learn survival skills, outdoorsmanship, and self-sufficiency.

Most kids lack the knowledge and skills necessary to survive outside of the home. Resourcefulness and improvisation have been replaced by convenience and entertainment.

Camping & Pioneering is designed to help kids get outside and develop MacGyver-skills. MacGyver was always prepared. He could solve problems on the go, often with a Swiss Army Knife and duct tape.

This course builds on the Backpacking & Trekking course. It encourages kids to be prepared, resourceful, responsible, and useful. Kids will learn basic, yet essential skills of compass navigation, fire craft, bear safety, camp management, bushcraft, and pioneering skills.

Some of the greatest leaders like Teddy Roosevelt were capable outdoorsman. His outdoor skills and accomplishments led to confidence in other areas of life.
